“Thank you so much for providing me with this opportunity. It was really nice to work with Dr. Chamila, Dr.Gaya and the rest of the team. I think I have earned very well confident doing OHE by my self now. I will definitely recommend this program to anyone who is willing to get the training on spay and neuter.”
Prasadani (Peradeniya)
“In my opinion, the project was great in terms of the clinical experience that I got. And I deem the standard of care of animals was high for a mobile clinic. Vets are very good and patient in teaching.”
Sharon (Queensland)
“I really enjoyed the clinic. The two weeks was an unforgettable experience. I would say they are very keen to throw you in at the deep end and it’s definitely the best way to learn, the variety of surgeries and the amount you do per week are perfect. I would recommend it anyone, definitely worth the money!!”
Emily (Liverpool)
“My time with the blue paws trust was amazing! Such a great experience and I learned even more that I thought possible!!”
Ailsa
“I have had a wonderful time in Sri Lanka. Everything went smoothly, all the people were fantastic and I have learned so much. Thank you so much for helping me to organize this trip. You were always so quick to sort out any problems or queries I had and made it all very stress-free!”
Charlie (Bristol)
“I would like to take this opportunity to say how amazing it was, I am now confident in performing castrations and spays on my own and I would not have the confidence or the skills without my time with the Blue Paw Trust. Everyone was extremely friendly and keen to help in any way possible. I would recommend it to all final year vet students.”
Hannah (Bristol)
“We had an absolutely wonderful time at BPT !”
Maya & Helen (Ghent, Belgium)
“We really enjoyed the project. The first week was very interesting, as you know that was the first time we had the opportunity to do surgeries and to know how to do it for real. The second week was also really useful. We had the opportunity to practice what we learned in the first week and to see diseases we’ll never see here in Europe.”
Chiara & Claudio (Milan, Italy)
“BPT gives you so much surgical experience – I’ve been so fortunate to be able to afford to go and am so very grateful.”
Cheryl (Bristol Uni)
“I had an amazing time with BPT! The first week at BPT was great for surgery and I managed 3 every day. The people were lovely and relaxed. It was great that they trusted me enough to let me get on with the surgeries on my won by the end of the week. Thank you for ensuring the trip went so smoothly, it is definitely a trip that I will never forget and the experience gained was second to none!”
Z.W. (Edinburgh Uni)
“I would highly recommend this experience. We got amazing surgical experience which we wouldn’t have to in the UK especially of bitch spays. This was the main surgery that was performed. Ended up doing about 23 bitch spays altogether with constant supervision from a vet.”
Rebecca (Cambridge Uni)
“We had a fabulous time! The accommodation was lovely – a large two-bed apartment with gorgeous views of the river. Working at the center went really well, Dr. Jayram is clearly very excited about the opportunity to teach surgery and has been very patient with us. Everyone has been so welcoming and made us feel at home. We’re both already trying to figure when we can come back once we’ve graduated!”
Sophie & Gillian (Edinburgh)
“We have found it really good and have practiced a lot of skills that we just don’t get the opportunity to in the UK. It has been some really good practice and some of the most enjoyable EMS we have completed.”
Elliot & Christian (Glasgow)
“Thanks for a great trip to India. I had an amazing time and learned a lot from the incredible vets out there.”
Emma (RVC)
“I absolutely loved my time at Jivdaya. I found the vets and staff very easy to work with and the hospitality was exceptional. The experience was excellent and the staff was very focused on making sure we saw and did as much of the clinics’ work as possible. I was also impressed with their surgical standards of care in relation to the location and nonprofit status.”
Brianna (Edinburgh)
“It was the most amazing trip of my life! The food was very good at Jivdaya. The people were very friendly! We made friends for life. Surgeries were during the afternoons, it was so amazing. Within the first week, we were already able to do the surgery by ourselves. We learned so much.”
Morgane (Dublin)
“I didn’t realize how much I learned until I returned home. I now recommending fellow students to the project.”
Katrina (Glasgow Uni)
“I just wanted to send you a little email to say thank you for organizing the trip. It was amazing! I had such a good experience and learned more than I ever had on any other EMS placements! I hope we managed to help in some way and provide some care for the animals, all of which we fell in love with! Thank you giving us the opportunity!”
Rebecca (Liverpool)
“We had a wonderful time in South Africa really!! The vet is such a nice guy, he taught us a lot and was always happy to answer our questions. It was really nice meeting him, we were feeling welcome and at home. I would definitely recommend this project to anyone. It was a great experience! Thank you to you as well for organizing the project.”
Manon (Belgium)
“We think that the South African project was great, as we get really close up with the game animals there. And the Vet is very knowledgeable and friendly. It would be even better if we can have more clinical experience. But overall the trip was amazing and we love the country ever since. Thanks for organizing.”
Sharon, Victoria & Brian (Queensland)
“I absolutely loved the time I spent with Selati Vet Wildlife this summer. It was such an amazing experience and taught me so much. It also helped me hone some of my practical skills like IV injections. Everyone we were with was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I can’t even begin to explain how much I appreciate everything they did for us during the placement. I think the three weeks was a perfect amount of time and I would have loved to stay even longer. I believe two weeks or less would not be sufficient enough to really take everything in, but I understand that those time frames might work better for other people’s schedules.”
Lindsay (Glasgow)
“I wanted to thank you very much for your help and support during my choices and stay in Moholoholo. Sorry to write to you so late but we had no internet in Moholoholo (because of the storm we had there). I had a wonderful time and did a beautiful experience! I miss it already! I will never forget this adventure and hope I could do it again in the future! Thank you so much for everything!”
Claire-Lise (Bern University, Switzerland)
“I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my trip, working with the vet was a fantastic experience and I hope I was helpful to him. It really opened my eyes to an aspect of veterinary work I had never experienced in England. Moholoholo is a great centre and it was amazing to get up so close to the wildlife and care for them. It was great fun living and working with all the other students and the centre employees.”
Helen (Qualified vet)
“I enjoyed every second of my Vets and Wildlife experience in South-Africa. It was far beyond my expectations. We had the pleasure to work with all kinds of wild animals, such as rhinos, cheetahs, lions, buffalos and al lot of antelope species. We did quite a lot of antipoaching work with the rhinos, treated a lot of wounds and translocated animals. Besides, we visited several beautiful game reserves, a rhino orphanage, and a conservation and research centre. It was an experience that I will never forget. Thank you so much for arranging this amazing trip!”
Sanne (Utrecht)
“I absolutely loved my time over there and can honestly not think of anything I would change about it. It was amazing.”
Nicolla (Queensland)
“I had a great time, it was beyond amazing! Lots of hands-on work, something different every day and plenty of downtimes.”
Katherine (Sydney)
“I had such a good time, I didn’t want to come back home 😉 My host family was the nicest people ever. I always felt safe around them. The work we did and the animals we worked with, were fascinating. The vets we worked with were informative and open to us. Communication was always really good. Thank you so much!”
Emilie (Ghent)
“The trip was absolutely amazing and one of the best experiences of my life. I really didn’t want to come back to rainy Britain after all that beautiful sunshine.”
Kirsten (RVC)
“The project itself was even better than I imagined. The first day we were already injecting buffalo’s, sable antelope and wildebeest. And from there on it was only getting better! We treated a black rhino and flew in a helicopter! The vet also challenged us by letting us think about what the diagnosis could be. That was very nice as well because we could practice our knowledge we have gained over the past 5 years. We also had to look up some drugs we were using so we could understand better why he was using some drugs in one case and other drugs in other cases. I think it is quite clear we learned a lot! And I am very thankful for these two weeks of experience!”
Amanda (Ghent Uni, Belgium)
“Everything was great! The accommodation was fantastic! We were treated like family. I think I put on a few extra pounds staying there. Fantastic experience and one I hope to repeat!”
Sarah (Edinburgh Uni)
“The project was really very interesting. The vets and the other employees were very nice. They always arrange for us to see the most interesting cases. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have such an amazing experience!”
Tania (Bern Uni, Switzerland)
“We learned a lot from the vet about medication, diseases, the typical kinds of animals and how to do injections and taking blood. Thanks to the vet and staff that made our dreams come true.”
