The Jivdaya Charitable Trust is a non-government organization which is dedicated to helping stray animals and birds, free of charge. The objective of the Trust is to reduce the pain and suffering of all animals who have been injured and help them live a normal life. The hospital is situated inside the Ahmedabad Panjrapole Campus, Ambawadi, in the town of Ahmedabad and was set up in August 2007. Over 55000 animals are treated each year.
The Jivdaya Charitable Trust shelter has an area of 1350 m2.
They have 3 Mobile Ambulance Vans and 2 separate operating theatres for animals and birds. The hospital facilities include a ventilator machine, gas anesthesia machine, x-ray machine, pathology lab facility, central oxygen system, electric drill for better orthopedic surgery, different sizes of implants, multipara monitor, etc.

Jivdaya prefers students to be in their 4th or 5th year of study. 3rd year students can apply but must understand that their level of ability may not be as high and their learning experience could be slower. Obviously, every student has a different ability to learn and Jivdaya does everything they can to meet the students’ needs whilst ensuring safe practice for the animals and the students.
Jivdaya has several specialist vets who will teach students how to spay and neuter dogs and cats and each student can expect to do one surgery per day.
More experienced students can also do one surgery per student per day alone with other qualified vets being available to assist where necessary.
Jivdaya can work with a maximum of 8 students at any given time meaning this is a perfect project for those who would like to go with a group of friends.
Husbandry students are welcome but will not do the spay and neuter operations.
Jivdaya specializes in bird surgeries and performs many animal surgeries which students can assist in during their stay and participate in according to their experience.
